Gulf University Strategic Alliances & International Collaboration
The University has a number of formal academic and research collaborative agreements with international universities, currently with the University of London and The American University in Cairo ).
Gulf University continues to research and forge academic links with internationally recognized institutions around the world.
There is a visible need for a working relationship between GU and Memorial University . Through independent research in the Gulf region, considerable demand is evident for
- Fisheries and Marine programs.
- Courses accredited with international universities.
- E-learning programs; to allow students from the Gulf region to study in a culture and environment that is comfortable and familiar.
- Links to Western institutions; to provide multi-layered and diverse degree courses for Undergraduate, Postgraduate and further study.

Research, Entrepreneurship And Development Unit
The Research and Development Unit goal will be established to facilitate research excellence and innovation to turn new knowledge into new products, processes and services for the academic, economic and social benefit of Gulf University and the Kingdom of Bahrain .
The Research and Development Unit's role is to help support, develop and manage the Colleges ' research enterprise. The Research and Development Unit also facilitates the implementation of Gulf University 's development and innovation plans.
REDU development Initiatives
R&D, in collaboratio n with GU Publishing Committee will coordinat e and publishing a regular newsletter with contributions from all academic staff. This will eventually be distributed to staff, students and external contacts. The newsletter will be approximately four pages and will be published on a monthly basis. The R&D unit will also collaborate with the GU Publishing Committee to launch a student handbook.
A new academic examination software, GradeQuick, currently used by all academic staff, has already been implemented by the R&D unit.
The unit has also designed a new registration and admissions process. Each student will have a profile that includes all subjects credits and marks. All the required templates and forms are designed and stored on the GU network accessible by registration and academic advisors. In this new system students will need to get English Language Centre clearance prior to registering with the respective college advisor.
R&D assisted in implementing a reward and recognition scheme whereby students receive Certificates of Appreciation for valuable contributions to GU, Certificates of Recognition for continuous development and Certificates of Achievement for outstanding academic performance. Students are eligible for these awards only if the English Language Development Centre grants them clearance. The unit was also responsible for designing all corresponding certificates. The unit is also in the process of designing a new library management system and an on-line course website . |
