Teaching & Learning Statement

Based on my extensive experience in teaching and research, I am qualified in designing, planning and modifying the course curricula, learning activities and design engineering programmes for undergraduate level since 2009. I gained my experience in designing courses, educational activities and research through participating in workshops and training sessions held at GU about designing course specifications, learning, assessment and feedback process, as well as E-learning workshops. These workshops developed my teaching experience of design courses. Accordingly, I benchmarked (local, regional and international) with similar programmes/courses including the teaching and assessment methods used in the courses I taught. In addition, I shared my experience to update my courses facilities and to develop the software/hardware requirements.

Experience

I had 30 years of experience working in academic Institutions and more than 10 years of practical experience working in industry. My professional experience includes teaching and research at the university in the same field. I have presented and participated in many of practical projects in different locations and companies in Iraq. I worked as a faculty member in Engineering colleges of the following universities; University of Technology (1989–2006), University of Baghdad (2006–2009), both are in Baghdad/Iraq and finally in Gulf University/Kingdom of Bahrain since 2009. Currently I am the Dean of College of Engineering. Previously I was the Director of Scientific Research and Community Services Directorate/Gulf University, 2015–2016, Acting Head of General Sciences Department/College of Engineering/Gulf University, 2016, Head of Professional Certificate and Consultation Center (PCCC), Gulf University, 2014–2016, Acting Head of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering/College of Engineering/Gulf University, 2015–2016.

Research Interest

My research interests include modelling and stability of automatic control systems, mathematics and optimization problems, Artificial Intelligence, power electronics systems and applications, machines learning and control.
